Statement

"My art reflects a dance between the two sides of my brain.  One moment, I am in the left side of my brain and accuracy and realism is key.  The next moment, I am in the right side, where creativity and spontaneity abound. Each of my paintings has a special place in my heart and they all have a purpose.  Some are works of art created to enjoy a specific color.  Some are experiments in form or style.  And some are just for fun, because I never want to lose the joy and spontaneity of the creation of art".

About the Artist

Realism with an expressionist’s palette is the best way to describe my paintings.  I am a third generation Texas painter and I love using bold and energetic colors that seem to leap off the canvas.  I paint primarily organic subjects and have a passion for seeing and capturing the amazing colors of nature.

Guided by a
MOTHER and grandmother, both lifetime painters, I started my artistic life with childhood lessons from renowned local artist, Simon Michael of Rockport.  My early passion was realism, but I find that I am currently drawn more to expressionism.  The experimentation with color and form are my guides to the creation of new work.

I work in my studio in south Austin and paint regularly with the prolific Bunkhouse Gang in Cypress Mill.
